Hello.. does anybody here have tried any online backup system specially for Mac. Have heard about Mozy and Carbonite. But are there any other good players in this. Just wanted to compare before actually start using it.

Here is a page of some MAC backups.

I've used Amazon S3 and it works well for me.

Amazon S3 is a bit complex to understand. For around 250GB data IDrive is a bit costly. Are there any other services which are easy to understand and also cost effective. There are many players in the market today, has anyone tried and can recommend a cost-effective solution?

Currently I am using Backupandshare.com and very happy with it. For just $150 I am getting unlimited backup space and mobile access too.

There are free services out there that let you save important files online for free. Office Live Workspace from Microsoft is free and lets you backup 5GB of you important files online. This not only saves a copy should your hard drive crash, but you can also access you saved files from any computer with an internet connection. 5GB isn't enough I know to backup you entire computer, but you should definitely look into this service for your important files that you access frequently or can't risk losing.

Why don't you get an external hard drive?

Prices have come down so much. It's much more convenient to use.

I recommend high quality external hard drives from G-Tech. Mac pre-formatted.
