I use FireFox and all my bookmarks and links I put in my personal toolbar have vanished apparently thanks to a trojan that got through my firewall, and while I do back up other stuff, like a dummy, I never thought to back up my bookmarks. <sigh>

Learn from my mistake! Take 2 seconds right now and back your stuff up! In FF, go to Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Export > Export HTML.

I've spent all morning going thru FF's support docs and learned that FF makes it own back up every day (thank gawd!!), but I can't get it to import the back up and restore my stuff so it looks like my best hope is to uninstall FF and start from scratch and then try to import it.

Wah!

Actually, you just back up your entire FF profile on a regular basis. That will save all your extensions, preferences AND your bookmarks.

Hmmm... I didn't know I could do that.

Uninstalling and installing a new version of FF didn't fix it, but I did create a new profile and import an old back up and that did, so I better back that one up before anything else happens.

Just thought I'd warn other FF users before they landed in the same boat I did.

Thanks!!

Diane

Or use foxmarks. It allows you to save your bookmarks and password.
You can even have different profiles (a home and work profile) and choose to synchronize your passwords too.

Another Foxmarks (now Xmarks) user here. The add-on works very well and just takes care of everything in the background.
