Which one do you think offers a superior value? AMD processors are cheaper but mid-range Intel CPUs in my opinion offer better value.

Depend of what you want.
AMD is below on the innovation stand, but they are quite good processors anyway.

And you can have 3 cores cpu today that are equivalent to a core duo in the term of performances for less money.
Don't ask me numbers, it's been years I don't care for them.
Just google a few comparisons, an you'll find every numbers you want.

For years, they where ahead of intel on the engineering front with a working force more than 100 times inferior and way less money.

Today, for convenience, I'm running a dual pentium machine, because changing it for amd would mean that I have to recompile all the apps I run on this server.
But when I'll change it, it will probably be for an amd.

well I guess right now hands down intel is the best when it comes into multi-tasking

I like AMD processors. In fact I've owned 3 in the past 7 seven years. The first one was a single processor. Then I got a dual core. Now, I have a Quad core processor and I love it. I use my pc everyday. I'm on the internet constantly but I do all print graphic design - no web graphics.

usually I have Illustrator and Photoshop open at the same time. Sometimes, I'll have 3 programs open and on the web all at once and this pc still works very fast. I just bought it on Dec 31, 2008 so it's still fairly new.

When I was shopping for this I spent about 2 months on research and I say for the money AMD is fantastic. There are some advantages INTEL
has if your going to use one of the VISTA OS's because I read somewhere that they were built to be compatible with VISTA. I don't remember what they were but I know they were miner differences to me. Not enough advantage for me to pay an extra $150-200. (I'm talking about price on the whole pc)

As far as advancement one over the other. According to my research and I must have looked at over 300 customer ratings and talked to probably 4-5 different techs they said the AMD was just as good if not better than INTEL. And last I read AMD was ahead in the game on the processor speed. They already have one out that is higer than the QUAD-CORE. I think it's a T-CORE not sure about name - it's been a few months. Last time I looked INTEL didn't have theirs out yet.

Both processors are good but I will go for intel.

For years Intel was always better than AMD, but now they are getting closer to actually competing with eachother. I would go with Intel before I went with AMD, but they are both pretty good now.

I've always gone with AMD as they are nearly or just as good and it was them that caused Intel to reduce their prices 10 years ago. So I have stayed loyal.

Interesting Digmen, I did not know that.... I recently talked to another "pc wizard friend", he told me that AMD's creators used to work for INTEL. Apparantly INTEL - way back when...... didn't want to add certain components that enhanced the processor functionality & precision - so the person or persons left the company and started their own and created the AMD processors. No one can beat their prices for the power, speed and durability of AMD processors.

When I take my needs, budget and dependability into consideration on my purchase, AMD makes as good a quality as INTEL. The only real difference to me is now, INTEL's are built more compatible for and with specific functions that enable certain features in WINDOWS VISTA. Since I don't like or use VISTA, it's a no-brainer for me.

I think AMD better, oh well comparing to my old AMD to my bro's old Intel i think AMD looks better. Still running. and Intel died RIP!
I think AMD is better on gaming and more hardcore and stuff not sure just my opinion.

I've been using Intel processors since the day Intel Pentium III was launched. So I will definitely advice you to take it more than AMD. It is really expensive as we all know but with regards to performance and quality, it is way better than AMD IMO.

Ya actually both are good processors but i prefer intel.

Intel are way much better than AMD's.I have been using an Intel CPU from a very long time and I must say I am quite satisfied with the service I am getting from it.Definitely much more better than AMD.

Value for money would be AMD, performance would be Intel

The way I see it is if I am going to buy a low end CPU or computer, I'm going to go with AMD. I'd spend a lot less and have an equally fast computer for less money.

If I was going to buy a high end CPU or computer and don't care about how much I spend. I'm definitely going Intel. They definitely have superior CPUs when you compare best vs best. But I'm a cheap bastage and don't require such things.

Go for AMD , less power gainer , working like a charm here for past 1 year , AMDx2

I think intel has better processors for laptops. I had an AMD in my desktop before and it didn't give me any problems.

i have used both processors...i found intel dual core far better than the AMD when it came to multitasking...but AMD outperforms INTEL in graphic capabilities and are favorites of gamers...
