My first PC: 32K Radio Shack Color Computer

I have fond memories of this little beauty. Must have been around 1980-82. Great graphics but awkward storage to a cassette recorder.

Wow! That was a neat package that I probably eyed up around that time. When PCs first came in I couldn't afford one but I visited a group of several shops off and on and drooled over them for about a year.

Well, I was 4 at the time of those beasts, but my father worked for Unisys in 1979.
It meant that I had a lot of that stuff to play with.

Ahh, my first "you will write 100 times 'I will not look through the windows during the courses time and pay attention in class' ", a matrix printer, and wordperfect for dos where on a wrote on a transportable compaq (that was almost as big as me and heavy as a horse):
http://oldcomputers.net/compaqi.html

When I see the price of that today, I really am grateful to my dad to let me play with those.
3'500$ where a lot, in the 70's...
Since that day, I "love" those machines....

welcome to the forum Ginger6. My family didn't own a computer until 2000 because of the high price of PC in our place. and the Typewriters is always the one that we're using. Having computer in the past is for selected people only

My first computer was the Commodore 64 with the regular 1541 floppy driver. I have many good games I don't know the reason why but I enjoyed much better the playing with C64 than PC. Anyway I've a fair C64 emulator on my PC and I can also use my old 1541 floppy driver thanks to my USB adapter, so the feeling is totally same than ages ago I've something similar solution for this connection (PC and old original 1541 driver) like on this page:

My first PC in 1987/88 was a 4.7 Mhz 8088 (IBM/XT) machine with a 8087 maths co-processor, (nobody should ever need more than) 640k of RAM, 5 1/4" floppy drive and a massive 10Mb (yep that's Megabytes) hard disk drive. running MSDOS 3.3.

The first computer I had was an Oric-1 with 48k of RAM in 1983, followed soon after (85/86) by an Amstrad CPC 464, with colour monitor and built in tape drive .
I still have the Oric-1

My first computer was a commodore a500
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiga_500%2B

My mom bought it in 92 I think (I was 5). I learned to type on the thing but that's about it. My first PC was a pentium 4 machine that I bought in 2004. I still have both.

My first PC was a Packard Bell Multimedia E300 or something along those lines.

Pentium 150MHz
32MB EDO RAM
2GB HDD
33.6 Kbps fax/modem

What a fine machine. $2,400 in 1997. Man I can't believe computers were that expensive then!

Commodore 64 was my first

danny, they were even more expensive a few years earlier than that. 486s were around $4000 when they first came out
