Anyone know what the "Asking Price" or Street Price of Windows 7 is? I haven't seen it yet, but I am predicting $666.66 ( Sound sinister to you? )

When I switch to vista, my monitor suddenly turns off and on for itself.. That's why I switch back to XP.

I agree with what most everyone has said: even the beta of 7 is a lot better than Vista. I've stuck to XP, but I do plan to upgrade to 7. Not because it's that much better or XP is lacking in any area, but just to keep up with the times and make sure that down the road there won't be some great app that only works on 7. My plan is to switch to 7 when I buy my next PC.

Windows 7 is just a modified version of Vista. In terms of performance it is better but still not XP. That can be expected because of how far hardware has come. If your running XP on some Pentium 4, then you shouldn't upgrade to Win7. I've been using the Beta and now RC1 and havn't run into any issues. Before I was using Win7, I used Windows Server 2008. Its nearly identical to Vista except that it doesn't have the added crap and runs much smoother.

I saw one comparison of XP vs Vista vs Win7, and Win7 actully did better at some tests than even XP. Where it was slower was file copy operations, etc, but it was MUCH faster at those than Vista.
It's definitely built off of Vista, but it's a good compromise between speed and new features.

I have just made the jump from XP to Win7, skipped Vista altogether, Im still in two minds about it. I really like XP and know my way around really well, I feel a little like a fish our of water with Win7 but Im hoping in time it will grow on me.

My vote goes to Windows 7. I still have XP and Vista workstations, but they'll all be upgraded.

Windows 7 has to be better, because it will be avoiding all the bugs Vista had.
