dvd-rom problems

i have a dvd-rom then i replace it with cd-rom then i replace the dvd-rom back again

problem is my dvd-rom cannot read a dvd format it can only read a cd
how is that happen??

can you pls help me how to return on my dvd format again

Just taking a guess here but have you tried updating your drivers?

I would recommend manually unistalling the device by way of the device manager and then reinstalling it through the plug-n-play feature. That might do it. Or you should see about the drivers needing to be updated or reinstalled for the correct drive.

how old your dvd rom? i encountered with the same problem, maybe its a driver issue but i suggest to try a new one..

Normally if it stops reading a DVD but will read CD's it is because the laser that reads the DVD is mis-aligned or damaged.

You could get it repaired, but for the £10 or something it costs for a new one there isnt a lot of point.

It might be a problem with your drive lens. Replacing the drive is best option.

Try to contact your dvd rom supplier and let them test the dvd rom on why its not working.
