I like Linux.. but have been using Windows for so long I don't see the point in migrating to Linux for my personal use.

I'm gonna say the best is the one that does the jobs you need, best.

well it depends on the user of course. some are comfortable with mac some in microsoft.

Ubuntu! Seriously! Ubuntu is terrific. Once you escape the claws of the evil Windows operating system you will never want to go back. Why pay $ for a crappy operating system when you can pay nothing for a superior one?

Anybody still think Windows 98 is the best? It ran Unreal Tournament GOTY edition like clockwork!

I find to be most productive in either Windows XP or Linux, but it comes down to what apps I'm trying to use.

Depends on what you want to use on the comp and on the computer knowledge of the user . In general usage for a layman I would say XP is better right now .
