Hi All

My friend came in to work today and told me that all the images had gone from her laptop. She also said that redemption sniper (or sniper redemption) kept coming up on the screen.

Unfortunatley, being at work I didn't get much time to discuss it with her, and so have a few questions which hopefully I'll get to ask her tomorrow, like are the folders still there but just empty, and when or where is the sniper redemption message coming up from, what anti-virus has she got etc.

Anyway, my question is does this sound like a virus, is anyone aware of something like this or had it happen to them, I'm guessing the pics are gone for good if it is a virus?

IF it is an unwanted message then offcourse its a virus... try to intall AVG ... its free...

It does sound like a virus of she's getting the unwanted message. I just did a quick search and the results do look to be on the shady side which I would think is another indication of it being a virus. I didn't see any results indicating specifically what it was or leading to a fix, but if it's been around any length of time that information is probably somewhere.

Sniper Redemption is old, just re-released. AVG will remove it.

She has managed to get the pics back, although why they were where they were found is anyones guess.

It also came to light from talking to her that it had been repaired recently, and I get the impression that the person who did it (her boyfriends mate) is possibly not the type of person you want messing with your laptop.

thanks for this post i got an idea what my friends pc problem.. i had never encountered a virus that erases your picture. from what i had experience virus prevent the files from opening . but the file is still there.
