What hazards do modern-day computers pose to our health? I am more interested in brain damages rather than physical damages, such as loss of weight, or Carpal Tonnel Syndrome. What possible threats could it have against our brains? Is there any real risk?

Sorry, I was sort of looking for a serious answer.

I've read some extreme reports that computer use can cause children to be more socially withdrawn, getting more out-of-touch with reality. A few years ago, a couple kids in Tennessee went on a real-life GTA killing spree. But, there are also reports that computers actually help teenagers raise their GPAs and improve reading test scores. I can honestly say I'm smarter now on certain subjects than I would've been without a computer. I've never read anything that suggests I can get brain-damage, if that's what you're referring to. Are you worried about your psychological well-being? It never hurts to unplug and get some fresh air.

No, I would say that I agree with you. I consider myself more "intellgent" now that I have been exposed to a computer, and the things I do with it! My psychological well being is not of concern, but rather my brain, in its "real" physical self. I'm concerned with radiation, and long term affects it may cause me.

After a few hours of "computing" I find that I feel dizzy, and a tingly feeling near the top of my head - but then again, that could be me being me, and letting myself worry.

That might be your monitor. If you're using a CRT, adjust to a higher refresh rate.

On CRTs, the refresh rate at a higher setting is less likely to cause eye strain, which can cause the symptoms you described. LCDs don't have this problem, but prolonged exposure to any monitor can cause eyestrain if you're looking at it for hours. Here are some good tips... http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/eyestrain/WL00060

Lance is right, it's probably eye strain. I've never heard of the computer causing brain damage other than the studies that show young gamers and children with lower brain activity in the frontal lobe causing behavioral disruption. I'm not sure if that would cause it to hurt? The frontal region is for emotional processing, planning and self-control, you might want to keep those skills sharp.

You work too much, lol. STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER!

People who are looking at computer screens tend to blink less often, which makes their eyes dry and easier to strain. I've heard it recommended even to just look away from the screen, focus your eyes on a distant wall every 20 minutes or so.

As others have posted above, I too have the following three thumb rules when working:
1. always make sure your monitor height is centered with your eye level

2. Blink as much as you can
3. Turn your head away from the monitor and focus your eyes on something else every 30 seconds

There is also a threat of radiation I'm sure you're aware of, There are however some types of special clothing that shield you from it.
