Problem with Firefox

Hi, I am having problems with Firefox suddenly shutting down. Nearly every day for the last 2 weeks a window appears on the screen saying "Firefox has encountered a problem and has to close. Sorry about the inconvenience etc" After it shuts down and I click on an icon on the desktop I get another message saying "Your last session ended suddenly, would you like to restore it, or start a new one ?" Anyone else had this happen to them, and is there a way to stop it ? It is starting to get very annoying. Hope someone can help. Mickmac

I don't use firefox (I use opera), but you may want to consider reinstalling.

maybe try to reinstall your firefox... and download the latest version..

Firefox has always had problems with crashes. However, its still my favorite browser.

Just re-install it. And or update your firefox. Or if you have any MODS / Plugins on it, disable them, to see if that was causing the crash.

If you are using toolbars such as Google or Yahoo that are not updated they can cause crashes as well. If you have installed a questionable toolbar remove it. Typically Firefox being outdated will be the number one cause of crashes, especially for dial-up users.

try to reinstall your firefox.. or update.. maybe better

It seems that the latest version of Firefox has a few bugs in it. I have had it regularly crashing on several different computers and OS. I believe it has to do with certain javascript based adverts (all of the crashes happen on sites that have changing advertisments and reopenning firefox and navigating to the page doesn't produce the same effect)

Hopefully this should get fixed in the next version.

Odds are it's an extension that's been added. That's usually the culprit. If you can remember which extension(s) you installed just before the problems started I would uninstall them and see if the problems go away.

I've generally not had to reinstall Firefox. Every so often I encounter a problem, usually hanging more than crashing, and every time an extension was responsible.

I have very few problems with Firefox crashing actually. However, I'm with Vangogh, extensions are most often the culprit with FF crashes.

I don't get crashes either. FF will hang for me sometimes, which might come across as a crash, but usually if you wait it comes back. The problem is almost always an extension I added and when I remove the extension the hanging stops.

I have had several crash before, but I suspect that is due to too many tabs open till it eats up all the memory. There used to be conflicts between the FireFox sessions management with the tab mix plus extension in earlier versions, but that seems to have cleared.

I use firefox too and i had the probleme some times ago too.
But after a while it worked. Sometimes it is a probleme,
due to many windows open. Just do not open to many windows and
allways get the newest (latest) version, then, i think it
wont happen again.

Not necessarily. I am encountering the same issue and a reinstall didn't work

You may want to see if any web page (are you browsing any specific site when this happens?) is causing the problem. Additionally, check to see if any plugins are being problematic -- disable and test.

One thing I wish FF would add is a way to sort your plugins by date installed. It would make it so much easier to debug plugin issues.

Most of the time I can remember the last couple I installed, but not always.

i have this problem too on IE7. when i click my IM links, the message shows the same as yours. i guess it may be related to your addons.

But my FF is stable. doesn't even have problems. i only have trouble with some sites made by camtasia, i see my ram usage went up to 92% with 2 gigs of ram.

anyhow, in your case, i would recommend uninstalling FF and try Beta 3 and see if it solves your problem.
