It seems like there is a neverending array of bulletin board scripts available for your site, free or otherwise. So many that I really have a hard time deciding. I like the threaded discussion of UBB.threads, but like some of the extra features and versitility that vBulletin has.

Hi qwer9182 welcome to Webmaster Talk Forums!

I personaly prefer vBulletin like you said vbulletin has more features and is very easy to use. vBulletin 3 is due for release soon and thats suppose to blow all forum software away.
So my vote goes to Vbulletin.

Cheers

Welcome to Webmaster-Talk.

I vote for vBulletin too. I've tried several, and this has to be the best.

Will the vBulletin version 3 have an option for threaded discussions (instead of flat)? If so, then that is what I am choosing, hands down.

That does it! I'm just gonna go ahead and put my vote in for vBulletin here! They still offer one free year of upgrades and additional years for only $30, right?

Yes its true. And yes one you buy a licence you have one free year of upgrades and additional years for only $30.

They say VB3 will be out late July early August.

If you are going to purchase VBulletin and would like to support Webmaster Talk i would reccomend purchacing it through the "Powered by: vBulletin Version 2.2.4, " which is located in the footer of every page.

Cheers

Do sites make a commission when users order a vBulletin license through the links on their sites?

They do if they signup for the vBulletin affilate program which is run through Commission Junction and do a little editing in the footer of your forum.

My vote would be vBulletin, though just having came from UBB, it's not very enlightened. Bottom line, VB is a good piece of software though.

Hey,

www.gameshownetwork.com uses vBulletin for their forums, but if you register for their regular site you are also registered for the forums. I didn't know that vBulletin supported that type of integrated registrations, but that's exactly what I'm looking for in a forum. Does it?

UBB but that is where most of my experience is...

Lately though I prefer any forum that is PHP based rather than Perl based.

Hi,

I can't vote for some strange reason, but I would vote for vBulletin too. It is obviously the best board out there, but it also is very expensive. When it comes to free boards, the competition is rough, but most of the modern PHP boards are pretty much equal in comparison (there's not much difference anyway).

BTW, Aimoo already has that option of threaded vs. linear already, lol.
