Since I don't want to bother with msn or email, I'll post here.

you have to make sure your files are in your htdocs folder (this would be the equivalent to public_html or www on some servers). Then in your browser, you have to go to: http://localhost

Also make sure your httpd.conf has the lines uncommented that tell Apache what to do when it runs into a file with a .php extension.. IF apache doesn't know how to handle a certain extension it just shows the contents of the file. do a quick search on "PHP & HTTPD.CONF".

What I meant by uncomment was that sometimes the httpd.conf already has some lines in it for PHP,but the're commented out "#". If you add in the 2 lines.. one that points to php and one that says how to handle the different .php extensions, then you should be golden. There are lots of docs on doing that so google will be your best resource.

Don't forget to give the server in question a good swift kick in the nutz, it always works for me. Oh yeah, uncommenting the httpd.conf file can help too, but kicking it makes YOU feel better.

I hate when you think you figured out a problem in php then you go to preview it and it says parse error on line...

Grr drives me crazy
