Im trying to get phpnuke and vbulletin to talk together so there is only one log on for the members. I have looked for plug ins, hacks, and modules but nothing does it. So I need to physically alter the code so the sql tables will talk and act as one.

I must admit I haven't looked at the code for these two particular programs, but as Cagez said, it's a big job. The main problem would be that you would either need to rewrite one system to access the database of the other (which would need a lot of changes to both systems), or develop some third system that is independent.

The way I would do an independent system (remember I haven't seen the code!), would be to set up a username/password database and use that as your master database. All signups would go to this and you would synchronise it with the two databases for the other software. You would need to hack both system, though, so that users were sent to your signup page, not theirs and would need to develop a system to log in the user to VB (for example) using their login for your master database.

I think there might be an add-on for VB which gives you PHPNuke style funcitonality. Perhaps that would be the way to go.

Ok what about this, what if we scratch the whole phpnuke ideas, and just create a php page thats does what i need it to do, most of which I can get from scipts online, and then use it to talk to vbulletin. My only other option is to use vbportal but I really dont like it.
Is anyone willing to atleast look this over with me? I dont think it would be as hard as everyone is trying to make it out to be. Though I dont have much experiance in php, I do have alot of experiance in asp and jsp. Getting things to talk shouldnt be to hard since they are both using php and using the majority of the same tags. I just dont know nuttin bout php other then how to make includes.

Ummm I'd have to agree with Cagez and David. It'd be a pretty hefty job, unless you can find some documentation on the code, and the coder of one of the two programs you're talking about had previously thought about doing what you're wanting to do, and tells you how to do it in the documentation... But the possiblity of that issssss...... next to none.

Miracles do happen, though!

Just a thought.
