Hi i am looking to source out a job next year for a meta search engine script with alot of extra features and what i have been told to do is research early all the options so what is the best coding to use in this type of script it needs to be supported by majority of browsers it needs to be fast secure and also be very error free suggestions appreciated.

Don't use something just cos somebody else uses it. Use something cos you're comfortable using it.

Client side you're more or less restricted to HTML/CSS/Javascript, but server side you've got a choice of ASP.NET (C#, VB, J# etc.), ASP, ISAPI, Perl, PHP etc.

You should look up information on each of them, what server side technology they require, and then choose for yourself.
