What's your browsing preference...paging or scrolling?

Let's say in particular shopping sites where you would have items broken down into categories but if you have over 40 or 50 items for the category...page them or scroll?

Of course you can always give the option of allowing the user to chose how many items to show/page or to show all items but given this option which would you chose?

It depends, If I'm reading something with a lot of text, like an ebook, I'd rather scroll a bit and then use paging on topic changes.

If it's a list of any sort, paging is better.

For a list, on a website, I'd go for scrolling. If you page through a big list, it clogs up your back button history. (Yes, I know there's ways round that, but I'm just like that...)
