OK so this is what Im wondering....What is the best way or the way to script a simple text link to turn music on.....

Ive used all the embed commands and although the QuickTime player is nice, Im trying to have a more simple ON/OFF link.........

Im trying to get it by default to not play. However i would like to give visitors the option of turning on music and I dont want to have and embeded player....

Can anyone help me with a Text type ON/Off link that I could use to start and stop a .mp3 or .wav file??????????

If this doesnt make any sence ask me to try and clarify....

Have you thought about using a flash player? I've seen many corporate website headers with this. Also has the option to just click on/off.

Here is a great website for sounds http://www.soundrangers.com/

Yes I have thought about flash but I dont want to do it with flash....................

Im lookin for a something that I can have as a simple ON / OFF and you click the ON text link and the music starts and then if you click OFF it stops...Im almost positive I have seen this before......

See I want the player to be seemless in the background so that you dont even know that it is there.........

guitrmn ill have to check out that link

if you dont even know it is there, then how will you be able to turn ON / OFF?
food for thought...
i think flash would be your best option here, you could make it nice and small so all that would show is the play and stop button

The only time I've seen what I think you want to do, it was done in flash. Here are a couple of examples...hope they help.

I think you all might be misunderstanding what Im trying to get at......When I say "you dont know it is there" what I am trying to say is you do not see any of the player functions (ie teh ON / OFF text link activates and deactivates the music/sound)...Yes flash would work I am well aware of that....However that really wont work with what I am trying to do...

Let me look around and find some examples of what I am talking about...

However due to the fact that I have a lot of family functions to attend to tomorrow I might not be able to post some examples untill late sunday or monday...

Thanks for the effort

But, couldn't you make the flash player with nly an ON and OFF, and you could make both look like regular text or links, depending on what the text/links look like on your site...

You can put in an embedded player, but use css to make it invisible. You can then turn it on or off using javascript? I used this technique to add a one shot sound effect when you mouse over a picture, but it would work for music too I think.
