I've relentlessly searched for this online, couldn't find it.

How would it be possible to make my own site counter?

I'm open to any suggestions, but I don't know to what coding language this applies. I'm fairly confortable with anything related to HTML, XHTML, PHP, JavaScript, and some MySQL stuff...

Although, I do not know how to make my own counter/stats generator! Does anyone here know a good tut/resource site for this or some simple coding?

I just do not want to use third party hosted counters, because I don't want to advertize for them.

Thanks!

KeWLKaT,

Why not just make a database called 'tbl_hits' or something, then run some php to update the database everytime the page is loaded? As for stats and things, you could just log I.P address, Browsers, and other Server Variables into a database and then run a PHP script which produces it in a friendly way.

Check out hotscripts i'm sure they'll have something good!

Regards,

Sean

Do you not have access to stats with your hosting?

See if your web host offers this service. If it's not free hosting then I'm sure that they will offer some sort of web site visitor analysis based on a log file where you can really take a look at what's happening.

Don't rely on these scripts that just increase the number by 1 when the page is refreshed if you are serious about looking at your visitors surfing habbits and making your site better through analysing these. Eg. Exit pages etc...
