Hey there. I recently made an exe file which kept visitors of my website up to date with all the sit'e goings on (it's about a local town so quite easy to manage and always lots going on).

I have now had a request to create a similar program for phones/palm tops... how would I go about doing this? Can I use exe's for this aswell or is it really difficult?

I created the last one in a program called: mio factory - which alows you to use HTML/Javascript to make apps...

Any help is greatly apreciated! THanks guys!

It depends on what OS the phones/PDA's are runing.
I've only ever written software for Symbian OS (Sony-Ericsson P800, P900, etc). There's some good tutorials out there. I used AppForge MobileVB to write apps in VB cos I don't know a lot of Java/C++, only problem there is you have to install a 'booster' app on the phone too, and it's expensive.
Have a look at the .NET Compact Framework. It's made for mobile devices like phones and PDAs.

Sounds very complicated, do you think it's worth it?

That's really a question you should be asking yourself.

IMO, Learning .NET in any sense is well worth it. Could get you a head start on a good job in the future... I learnt enough about Win2K to pass an exam without going on a course. Saved myself a few grand there...

If you already know VB quite well, and you kow exactly what you want your app to do and how you're going to go about doing it, get the 30 day trial of MobileVB and go on a mission to get your app done in a month.
