Hello All,

I am looking for feedback on Scumware and the scripts that help stop it.

I've read quite abit about it lately and am wondering if I should consider adding the script to my site and editing the HTML on my over 600 pages. It's definately going to a little work, so that's why I'm asking your opinions.

Here is a thread on the Amazon.com Associate boards that really sums it all up - I hope everyone can access it.

Thanks for your comments.

He's a good site for Scumware stoppers: http://www.searchking.com/ezulakiller/. I have heard that the java scripts will stop the scumware. If you're concerned about the theft, then it's probably worth the time to install.

Here's a Sept. 2001 article about Scumware: http://searchenginewatch.com/serepor...-toptext.html.

Last but not least, a site to detect if it's on your pc: http://and.doxdesk.com/parasite/.

Dave

P.S. I'm glad you mentioned it because I haven't checked in awhile. Found out that I had one (New.net), but it's now uninstalled.

Thanks for your message Dave,

I've really wrestled with this, but I think I've decided to just put an alert and "see if you're infected" link in my monthly newsletter and "test" my traffic.

This topic sure didn't strike the nerve here that I thought it would. The message boards on Amazon are saturated with concerns about it.

Do you think that most webmasters aren't aware of it, or are there just a few over at Amazon just freaked out about it?

Thanks again for your response.

Cindy

ps - glad you found and got rid of new.net!
