Does anyone use Java JSP/Servlets for their server side scripts? (im not talking about javascript)

It seems most everyone uses PHP.

JSP and Servlets are popular, but normally in the enterprise development market. As most people here are freelance webmasters, finding hosting for PHP/MySQL is much easier (and inexpensive) than finding affordable Java application server hosting needed to run JSP/Servlets or full-blown J2EE enterprise solutions.

Just to add, JSP is a little more complex to implement than its VBScript and PHP rivals and requires a higher level of programming knowledge.
If you are deciding which server-side technology to learn and have no programming background then VBScript and PHP are excellent choices.
I would actually go further and say if you have no Basic or Visual Basic experience then PHP is the better choice as it has more similarities to other programming languages such as JavaScript, Java and Perl than VBScript does and therefore makes it easier to pick them up too, if and when appropriate.

J2EE is java but nowadays in the market, people would want programmers who are well versed in J2EE to develop their enterprise systems not just plain old java. that's wat i meant. Having java knowlege is not sufficient to survive but if you are well versed in J2EE, you are in demand because it consists of a lot of other things and it can still improve i feel that JSP is still quite ok but then i do not knoe abt whether other languages is more easier because i have not try learning them yet.

Although I see many many many more websites written in PHP than in Java/JSP/Servlets, I just dont see any jobs for PHP. So people chose PHP mostly because it is easier than java/jsp/servlets and cheaper as well to host?
