I have looked all over the web and can not find anything that will tell me how to set file permissions with dreamweaver - I assume you can otherwise everyone will be doing stuff on dreamweaver and uploading via third party FTP.

Can anyone tell me how to set file permissions in dreamweaver please (such as for a .htaccess file or script)

You don't.

The FTP client in DreamWeaver (up to Ver7 at least) doesn't have CHMOD capabilities.

So for uploading will I have to use filezilla or something?
(my current site was done with FP03 with FP extensions which meant I couldn't change file permissions)

I know some of the experienced here use Dreamweaver regular, how do you upload files? do you upload the lot with a third party FTP or upload with Dreamweaver then upload the files you need to set permissions on via a third party FTP?

I use Dreamweaver, but I FTP with Filezilla. You can change the permissions on server files by just right-clicking and going down to File attributes in Filezilla.
