Is there a website out there where I can enter in my code, and it would give me a downloadable .exe I can keep? I've seen some websites that run the code and display the output, but I want to get an actual file out of this.

Thanks!

Not sure there's much need for such a thing. After all, you can get top-end compilers for free, and it's faster to run on your home computer than wait to download something.

Yes, but I sometimes write small programs at school, so this kind of thing would be very helpful.

I think part of the reason services like this don't exist, aside from lack of demand, is that any compiler you implemented as a web service would be very limited. To begin with if you're running the service on a *nix machine it would be useless for windows users. Managing dependencies and multiple source files would take a lot of effort.

Maybe you should look into a standalone compiler; something that you could just put on a flash drive and take with you.

Good idea. An online sevice would be a pain to implement for no probable financial gain - think of all the target machines, target architectures, load and link options, libarary options .....

I don’t think there is one available online. There would be different compilers needed for different languages and as a programmer you would want to compile your own code so as to avoid having your content copied. And i bet if there is one available online, they will put some watermark that when published will post that it is from this certain software that would not really look good when you pass it to your professor.

An alternative I'd recommend is to simply put the MinGW GCC on a flash drive (assuming the school computers run windows).

Here's a little how-to to get you started: http://www.scalprum.eu/mingw_install...mpilation.html
