Hello,

I have a cake decorating and candy making web site.

I have been approached by someone who wants to purchase space on my home page for a text link to their site.

My site gets around 2000 hits a day.

My dilemma is I don't have a clue what something like this if worth. If anyone could give me a little guidance I'd really appreciate it!!

Thanks.

Visit LinkAdage Auctions and compare your site against other sites that are selling linkads. That should give you a good ballpark estimate of what a link on your site is worth.

LinkAdage, I would prefer if your tried to help our members ON-SITE instead asking them to go somewhere else to learn (Given that it is your own site).

Joe, I can't give you the exact price you should charge but here are a few things to consider.

1. The sites subject matter. Some industries such as busy hosting comparison site or webmaster site can easily find advertisers willing to pay big bucks for a text link. But If you are looking to advertise on Joes Game Page (even though it may still get lots of traffic) he will probably charge less for advertising because of the types of visitors that frequent the site.

2. The sites traffic.

3. The location of the link. In a highly visible spot or will it be hard to notice on the page.

4. The sites PR. This is not important at all for many webmaster basically because they are unsure what it is or how to use it to your advantage. So is the advertiser looking to increase their PR, looking for traffic only, or both.

Just a few things to think about. Not knowing any details my guess would be to maybe charge $50 to $100 a month (given your sites subject matter, traffic and appearance). But always start on the high side and then negotiate (or let HIM make the initial offer).

Good Luck
