I tried to export my RSS feeds from Google Reader into my desktop to import them into other News Readers... but when I tried that I get a page with a grey bar at the top, and a message

"This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below."

Followed by a string of code below with a white page background.

I've seen this many times and thought it was a mistake on the websites part, but now with Google Reader, I dont know ....

I'm new to RSS, and XML stuff. Is this a bug, or Firefox problem or something else? I'm posting here due to RSS being a 99% blogging feature..

How do I make the RSS page look proper? Sorry if this sounds a bit dumb.

Well, I see that you are using firefox. You could've made it a little more by revealing the version. I also this problem when I had previous versions of firefox.

But now, I don't get pages like that because I'm using Firefox 2 and it has "Live Bookmarks" and you can read RSS with firefox. But if you're using Linux, I think a software completely dedicated to feed reading as Akregator is better. I mostly use linux so I'm not familiar about Win32 softwares.

And, webplace, its not a stupid question. I was also in your situation when I was a newbie to RSS. Don't veil your intelligence by thinking you are stupid. Everything will come your way.

Thanks

Astrojith, I am still using the old firefox 1.5.0.9 and not intending to upgrade soon, cos I got tons of bookmarks and not sure how smooth the upgrade will be. But I'm guessing Firefox 2 is all defaulted already

Thanks Republikin, the feedview extension now makes the feed look better...should I just copy a feed url and paste into my RSS reader to add a feed?

Essentially, I think thats the process.

As far as your bookmarks go, you can export them all to a html file first so that you don't lose them, or even better, download a bookmark extension like the one for del.icio.us and let it handle your bookmarks. This way, whenever you upgrade or if you were to lose all your data you still have all your bookmarks on a remote server.
