A client is looking to make a blog. He wants this blog on his own site. By blog, he means a page, which he can periodicly add content to without being a webmaster (or knowing much beyond copy and paste).

I cannot find blog software that is just that simple. One user, 1 page. Maybe an archive, ( system of links to older pages.)

Does anyone have any suggestions?

You could try Blogger.com - it's a free site and there are many others out there - search engine = free blog sites.

I've been using WordPress on my site and found it very easy to install, setup, and use in general.

Here's a link that gives a Blog Software Breakdown with some good info about the features of a good number of blogs you can install on your site.

Wordpress is pretty good but my favorite is Drupal for its CSS/XHTML. Some other good ones of note: Movable Type and P-Machine. As always you will get the best results by asking your client what options he wants and then finding the best system to meet his/her needs.

I have been looking at these a good bit bit. Wordpress is excellant for a single blogger but it may be more than the client needs. But it terms of really simple you might take a look at sNews.

sNews offers the option of being able to include a teaser on the main page of the site with a more link to take you to the blog section. I haven't tried it but it is just a php include type thing.

Whichever you pick set in up in a subdirectory. Once you get it set up he/she should have no problems posting what they like. Simple text is easy in both. They will have to learn some simple html to add bells and whistles.

You can't go wrong with WordPress.

Definitely WordPress. Its easy to install and will be easy for client to manage after you turn it over to him. You can modify it to do pretty much anything you need and it really is one of the best blogging platforms out there.

I agree blogger is very easy to use. And you're client would like this simplicity.
