By now, most of us know that there's an ongoing contest on freelancer.com to try and optimize for some keyphrases while trying to promote freelancer.com.
So anyway, the stupid thing that I did was to try and get the attention of the elite bloggers so I could guest post on their blogs. I don't know if it worked, I will most likely be ignored.
Anyway, the original post is here
https://plus.google.com/108241716663...ts/e9v19hMYKr8
and this is the text,
Quote:
Do I dare have the audacity?
I guess I will, I got nothing to lose. Deep breaths.
Alright, +Darren Rowse, +Chris Pirillo and +Chris Brogan. I know it's a long shot but I really need to do this. Will you guys let me guest post on your blog?
The topic will be how to build a business using freelancers. You'll find my writing style over at dannybuntu.com and the guest post will link to http://www.howtobuildabusinessusingfreelancers.com.
I'm doing this because there's a writing contest on freelancer.com, and I promise that I'd give it my best shot, so I will. You guys are the best bloggers out there and it would really help me a lot if I could guest post.
The secondary objective, of course is to get some links pointing to http://www.howtobuildabusinessusingfreelancers.com to help make it rank.
If yes, then please accept my sincerest of thank yous. If no, thank you just the same for at least reading this request. Kind regards, me.
At least +Matt Barrie knows I tried everything and anything possible to make this work.
|
So far, Darren Rowse has replied and one guy commented there:
"Mmmmm tasty when fried and served with white rice and eggs over medium."
<<< I don't even know what he means? Was he referring to hotdogs? or Bacon?
Harararar, just voicing out the insanity crawling up my spine. How about you? What was the stupidest thing you ever wrote as a blogger?

Ohhhh, cripes... After almost 20,000 words, you gave me the truth chrishirst - and it depressed me...
Honestly, and I won't hold it against you but I'll take it as a pointer.
Do you think that my writing is like that?

Your writing isn't, your message is.
Don't start with the best, start with those on the second rank. Don't give links: tell them your areas of expertise. Even then I'd be surprised if anyone took you up on the offer.

Thanks for telling me that my writing isn't spammy.
I just finished guest posting on some friends' blogs about 3 of em. I was hoping the in-your-face-this-is-the-truth-so-come-what-may-approach-will-work on at least one of those guys.

For "guest blogging" to be of any benefit to either party you have to be INVITED to be a "guest" writer, especially if the "blogger" happens to be notable in his or her field of subjects.
Where you are going wrong currently is that "blogging" is a "job" not a hobby, you are writing because you consider that you have to, not because you want to.
The "well known bloggers" are not blogging to promote products, or get Adsense pennies, they "blog" for themselves and promote themselves NOT their subjects/products/services.
You will not find these bloggers "keyword" link dropping at forums, leaving link drop comments or posts at other blogs they promote their OWN NAME.
YOU have to become "well known" not your products, if you want to be a TRUE "guest blogger".

Thank you for taking the time to give me your insights. I really appreciate it Chris and I wholeheartedly believe this.
From my perspective though, here's how I see it.
- Do you think a guy like me would ever be invited to guest blog on problogger? - never in a million years. I'm a third world dude, who used to write spam, who lives in the jungle - nobody is going to hand me free pancakes.
It's true, without money to sponsor things and all that, we unknown bloggers have to work not just 2 times harder, but 10x harder - and do that in obscurity too - I know, I've been writing for 5 years now.
- I believe that these well known bloggers have some guys like me, who will do these types of things for them so they could wash their hands and bask in the glory of blogging epicness.
- Blogging is a job, a pleasure. My job is my pleasure and my pleasure is my job.

I have heard something like that said before, though it wasn't about writing.

Why not?
Your posts are well written and far more intelligently thought out than the majority of posters who pretend they are fluent in English but choose to use auto translation tools that turn the whole thing into gibberish.
What you write and how you write it is more important than what you are, and promoting yourself as a writer or blogger means being prolific with your output about your "pet" topics. As I said in another thread write about anything and everything you like. There are many places where you can write for without needing an invite, forums are always looking for people to post, and if you can research a topic you could probably write about it.
Don't "hide" behind anonymous usernames at different places, use a "pen name" to write under by all means, but make sure it's a brandable pen name rather than a "keyworded" one.
Look around for places that are new or are sparsely populated with content and offer your help there, going straight for the "top bloggers" is only going to get you a "reject letter" just as many "real world" writer do when trying to get work published.
At the moment you are a nobody, no one knows your name and you don't have a reputation, good or bad, and only you can build that reputation and get your name known.

Ah, yum, yum. My personal favorite is what we call "tocino" or sugar cured pork. Of course, bacon and ham are close seconds. Good breakfasts!

First of all, I don't know if you guys are fathers,
but happy father's day nonetheless.
I just visited my grandfather since my dad has long passed. He has recently been diagnosed with cancer and it has been almost a year since I last saw him. This, plus the contest are pulling my stress levels quite high. It was good to see him and I feel better now.
Anyway, Chris Hirst, your words are like the light that shines through a dark night. My only pen name is dannybuntu and I use daniel1024 since it is also my freelancer user name.
Thanks to you, you've made my day better. I am really happy to know both Jim and You and I hope that I can contribute to these forums positively.
Nobody has really commented about my writing style before - well, except those who I used to write for - but they were mainly you know, a "good job" type compliment. So you really made me happy.
To be honest, both business and freelancing really are my core topics aside from fatherhood and gaming.
Again, with a happy heart, I bid you gentlemen a very happy father's day. I think I would rest for this night - my only day that I have not written anything for the contest since the freelancer.com contest began.
