You can have as many as you like.

On a personal opinion note, I am not a big fan of too many plugins. Not all of them are updated frequently or have trouble when you upgrade to newer versions of WP. i.e., instead of using the plugin for Google Analytics, why not just hard-code it right in, etc.

My advice is always check how well the plugin is m anaged, google it for problems, etc. before using one.

As racer x said, there is no limit to the plugin you can use, however, some plugins may slow down your blogs, so why not just pick the ones needed so much.

No limit but i recommended you to do not use lots of plugins because lots of plugins increase website opening speed

make sure you go through your plugin code so one plugin doesn't interrupt another plugin (this is common in plugins which modify your database or template, but not very common - if you understand what I just said).

Only Use the plugins needed to run your blog properly. The only limits will be in your hosting type, speed, space etc.

i try to keep my blog with limited plugins only which is very much needful and also useful for my blog to get better and user frdly. i dont like to stuff with many many plugins

Of course not, there is no need to cap a limit if you host the blog yourself. However if you add too many plugins it really will slow down the loading of the site, so just be cautious.

As long as you don't exceed on the file size you can use as many plugin as you want.

so only install necessary plugins.
