For you experienced bloggers: Do you approve comments that you can't read with links to non-English sites?

I have a new blog and I have 2 comments being held for review. They came about a 2 days apart and appear to be the same language but I don't know what. One is all in a non-English with a link to a non-English site.

The other has an English comment (complimentary) but leads to a non-English site.

Since my site is all English and I have no idea what is being said or what type of sites they are do I approve them? I don't want to be rude but...

Manish

I've been getting a lot of those on one of my blogs, too - a couple in Russian. I'm deleting them as I think they're SPAM, but if you feel you want them on your site, I guess that's up to you. Personally I wouldn't because I know my visitor's are all English speaking and wouldn't give those links a thought anyway...just my 2 cents.

BTW My general attitude to it is.

If you drop a link that is absolutely nothing to do with the post/article, it's spam. No argument. No discussion. No link.

I think you should delete those comments because I think it would be better for you to first know what's the meaning of their comments

You can translate the Non-English to English using any of these :

http://www.freetranslation.com/

http://babelfish.yahoo.com/?fr=avbbf-us

http://www.math.mcgill.ca/rags/translate.html

Plug in the comment and see what it say and then decide whether it is spam or not

If it is outright spam - just delete it
If it is real good sincere comment - translate into English, do a little editing and leave allow the comment to stay...however...
If the links leads to some undesirable site like porn, piracy site etc - you wouldn't want them on your site...unless your blog is also is a undesirable site like porn, piracy...

You are the boss of your blog...you make the final call...you just got to be firm in your stand and this is nothing to do with 'rudeness'

If the person is genuinely adding to the conversation but you don't really want to link to their site because you feel it's spammy, you can simply remove the links.

of course the other option is to simply delete the comments (this is what I chose to do).

If it is a genuine comment they have to be able to read english therefore write english to have even understand the post. So any legitimate comment should be in the same language.

Nope. More visitors can read and understand english. Why I should approve the non-english comment that I never know of what he is talking about.

I always celebrate everytime I receive new comments, I take time in reviewing them. I've never received such comments yet but if I do, I will check the link and if the site seemed relevant to my niche, I approve them, otherwise, I delete them.

I think you should delete that comment. As you notice, you can't understand what the comment content. Maybe, it is just a spam.
