have been blogging for a bit but really want to get into it in a more professional manner. I know now that keywords are important but how do I go about getting good keywords for my content even if the topics vary from financial to world affairs?
I just started a blog for my Hubby to do with his current affairs show and I wanted to start right. I appreciate your feedback as I am just getting into the Seo thing.

I always find that not looking at keywords is actually a better way to write blogs. If you write for keywords then your blog posts lose some of their readability. Just my view.

Personally, I don't look for keywords for blog posts. I write naturally and usually what I write is typically relevant to my readers' and is good for searchability. In any case, if I have questions, I check my analytics logs and Google Webmaster Tools to see which keywords are bringing users to my site to see how to capitalize on them (or to neglect them altogether).

You can use keyword suggestion tools such as google adwords and overture/wordtracker. And when you find good keywords for your blog, be sure to not overstuff them and use only keywords related to the content of your blog.

I try to just write what I want to write first before going over the post and inserting the keywords where they should belong. I don't just put them in the post randomly; I think of places where they will be most effective and not spammy.

Keywords are very important in my opinion too, having a good content with apt keywords would drive in the desired traffic. I have been blogging for almost an year now, I do use Hit Tail which specifies the keywords depending upon the traffic that visited my blog with specific keywords. This is definitely a good strategy if you're focused on keyword density in blog posts.

Try to use KW discovery tools. Or, you can based on KW analysis list on stat counter (if you have).

I use seodigger.com and try to check the keywords for which my competitors sites rank well. This is a good tool which shows wordtracker stats and also ranking positions of the competitive site in search engines.

Too much "keywordage" (new word) in your blog can make it read weird and impersonal. Try to have fun with your blog and put out some good content and your blog will grow naturally.
