This is kind of random but I was wondering if for post pictures (like some people use on the side of a post when starting it to have a graphical emphasis) you take your own or google search?

I generally use the image search myself but I was wondering if in the long run that would have copyright issues so I was thinking about taking my own.

I generally take my own pictures. However, I know that a lot of people grab their images from flickr, especially because of the easy access to its API that flickr uses. I've never used Google image search, but I find sxc.hu to be quite handy for free stock photos.

I wouldn't use Google search. Those images may be copyrighted and you can be in legal trouble if caught. I personally speak from numerous instances over the past 3 years where a number of people I've been in touch with in web development companies and publishing companies have suffered tremendous legal fees and takedown notices as a result.

When in doubt, don't use just any image.

Instead, check Flickr but only use the images licensed by Creative Commons, and even then, make sure to give the users credit. It queries from multiple sources, including Flickr, sxc.hu (as Nick mentioned), Morguefile, and others.

I also recommend www.everystockphoto.com, but be sure to follow the licenses.
