You might lose to start, but in the end, you'll break even if you're determined to blog.

If you have things of value to add, and you write regularly, it doesn't hurt at ALL to maintain a blog. Just make sure the regular writing is something you're committed to. I can't tell you how many bloggers I've coached who say "oh sure, I'll blog" and then they give up on it.

Here's why I blog:
1. It brought me fame
2. It got me money
3. It's gotten me consulting gigs
4. It's gotten me jobs
5. I'm probably writing a book soon and all because I started a blog!

In other words, if I didn't have a blog, I'd be just some "new kid on the block."

I'll tell you this: my first few months of blogging sucked. I look at those posts now and wonder what I was thinking. But I was determined and I stuck to the plan. I'm so glad that I did.

Depends on the blogging software you use. Check with the hosting provider to get information about this. You may have to check their individual forums.

Yes, but what are you using now? Again, check that you can port all the content from whatever it is (blogspot, etc.) to WordPress.

Do a Google search for "blogspot to WordPress migration" or something and it should help you.

I think it's definitely worth it. If you just blog about your business, you'll draw targeted traffic to the blog, and therefore the site.

Also, after a while you'll have a lot of content up there, even if you only update your blog occasionally. You can then edit this stuff, rejig it a bit then submit it as articles to directories and get more backlinks to your site, thereby lifting your rankings.

Well Blog is nothing but the log of activity. You can have a Log at your site!!
