What I recommend is to start a blog where you talk about things you love and know something about. Make sure that the content on your blog is 100% original and is not stolen from somewhere else. If you write about something you love and have some authority, you should start getting good traffic and if you're running adsense you will start making money.
Use adsense, sell affiliate products, when you get pagerank you can sell a few links, you can sell reviews to other blogs, all kinds of stuff, the sky is the limit
There is alot more to making money from a blog than just signing up for adsense. Having a plain blog with no design and a small interest will produce nothing for you financially.

I agree with bloggingcash. I use my blog to send traffic to my store, and show off my store products. It's become an awesome combination and I am a step ahead of my competition now because of it.
