There were some spectacular blogging related websites on sale on sitepoint recently. I was thinking very hard about buying either blogcatalog.com and eatonweb.com but did not make it in time.

The main issues for me was that the scripts used were custom made and seemed to have bugs, and also I wasn't sure how to monetarize those sites properly. I was thinking whether they could be turned into a paid listing directory. I wonder if these sites have been bought by fellow earners?

Eatonweb is a bit messy, but BlogCatalog is fine.

I remember you saying that eatonweb earned more than $1500 per month in Adsense. However, it seems that the traffic has collapsed and it now earns about $100. Anyway, I was extremely tempted to buy Eatonweb and wished I had done so at the BIN. I was mainly baulking at the work that will need to be done and also the fact that the portal was on a subdomain.

getblogs.com was on sale a few months back and I wished I could have got that too. Unfortunately, these opportunities do not come often. Anyway, I did manage to snap a PR7 site with over 10,000 backlinks for less than $5000! Win some, lose some!

Aye I remember.

Eatonweb was making more. At its peak it was doing almost $150 a day. But my focus was never on that site - it was our template for Blog Flux. And Blog Flux is our focus, so those three sites we sold were just going to slide more anyway.

I don't think the fact that it was a subdomain was a big problem. It was *always* a subdomain, and to Google that was okay.

GetBlogs.com was also owned by BloggyNetwork at one time. It seems like all we do is churn out natural high-PR blog-directories

i had a mate intrested in this. has it sold yet!
