I'm working hard generating quality content for my new blog: nfladdicts.com. However, I'm still new to the blog world and know I could be reaching a larger audience. Are there any really effect ways to tap into blog traffic aside from conventional SEO and link building?

1. Network a lot with other bloggers in the same niche. Referral traffic will significantly drive you more traffic and also get you stronger position in SE.
2. Tag, tag, tag
3. Encourage readers to subscribe to RSS feed.
4. Encourage readers to submit your blog post to social bookmark sites
Basically, a blog is nothing more than website, but there are several ways to maximize the use of the infrastructure to get more traffic. Because in blogosphere you can monitor the conversation, you can blog about others and immediately start a discussion with other bloggers.

Well, you can use post name as the URL (remove date from the URLs).
Also, you should link to your older posts in the new ones.
Another thing you can do is to create some tools, videos or audios, aimed to spread via word of mouth.
The above advice is pretty good, too.
Oh, right, if you are using WordPress (the big chances you are), you can use some of the SEO/usability WordPress plugins.

Comment on related blogs.
Use trackbacks.
Post on related forums and have a signature link.
Submit your blog and posts to various social media - all sorts like stumbleupon, del.icio.us, blinkbits, netscape etc. Also have your friends and others to submit/bookmark your stuff on those.
As mentioned by others, tag your posts - and pick the best tags.

Nope, nope, nope, nope, and nope
Those methods DONT work.
Ok you submit your link to some crappy social tagging service. Where does your link go? To the very bottom of the 'new links' page where it won't be seen by terrestrial life. Stumbleupon, dleicious, technoartaia, diggggg are crap.

If you're having problems making those methods work, well then I'm sorry for you. They do work but are of course very dependent on targetting as well as trial and error untill success.
A second reason to use such services are the links on those sites which often help with gaining trust in Google... This of course only applies to those not using the rel=nofollow which many of them don't.
A third reason for using them is that once in a while a post of yours will get picked up by other bloggers, who will blog about it and thereby provide you with links and traffic - which is often highly related.

@worldwebuser
I've used social bookmarkers, forums and similar techniques to build an average of 300 uniques a day. It was as high as 500 a day at one point, but I stopped actively promoting a month ago.
They are excellent sources of long term traffic.

300 visitors a day? Bffft thats gass.
I get 30,000 from the search engines from one of my sites
I dont mean to brag but 300 a day isn't much (unless it is a money term like 'lawyer' some medical term, pills, investing, poker or work at home opp. )
And the time required to get bookmarks and stuff....way too timemmeee consuming.

Poker. And the social bookmarking bit takes 10 minutes.. as long as it takes to write a post.

I'd say that blog commenting and forum posting takes as much time as other site promotion activities. Can't say that they give good links, because forum links are easily discounted, while blog comments links are with your name on it (unless you post just for links with your keywords).
I'd indeed focus on more result-driving techniques, such as writing quality content.
