Just wondering if anyone could help. I did something stupid and started my blog using a numerical archive system, and now I'd like to change it so that the post title is part of the URL for SEO reasons. Is there any Wordpress plugins that anyone knows of that could switch it without sending Googlers to invalid pages? Maybe some sort of redirector to the correct page?

Thanks.

I thought WP was built in with an easy way to change you're permalink structure.

Just Google the term "permalink" and you should get it

Oh, yes, I know how that's done. I should have been more specific...

I have about 30 posts now and I'm getting pretty decent amount of search engine traffic for it being so new. My problem is that if I switch the structure now, all of those coming from Google, Yahoo, etc. will get stuck with 404s as soon as they hit my site. I'm just wondering if there's a plugin that might create redirects instead of 404s once I switch the permalinks. Does that make sense?

Sorry, but I don't know of a way to do this easily without programming.

This is perhaps close to what you want.

But again, it involves too much setting.

Because you only have 30 posts, probably the easiest way is to 301 redirect it one by one in the htaccess file (mod_rewrite).

1. Compile a list of post redirects.
2. Apply a new permalink in WP dashboard
3. Edit htaccess, include the the redirects above the new permalink structure. Yes, this even works with 2.0.x.

doing 301 redirect for each of the 30 posts seems to be the only way to do it.
but then since you used numeric url earlier so it should not be a big problem. try it.

you might also want to get the www or non-www url issue cleared at this moment only
