Hi eveyone, I'm new to the forums, and new to web design. I've been asked by someone to create a new word press theme for them, before now I had never used wordpress so it's been a bit of a learning curve for me which is great. I have a question I need some help with though:

How does my client end up using this template, do I just send her the style.css, index.php, all other .php files, and images, and then she would ftp it herself? And will that take her current blog posts away?
Or am I off track here..?
Some advice would be great, thanks in advance! :-)

1st of all you or your client Upload the wordpress plugins.
after that your client can easily use any theme which is provided by you.

I don't know what he meant by that either, but themes are usually uploaded
the same way as plugins. You upload the theme to its proper directory, in this
case it would be wp-content > themes.

You should have a folder called the name of the theme. Inside this folder are
all the files that make up that theme. Images, php files, stylesheet. etc.

This folder can be zipped if you intend to send it to someone. Either way, it
needs to be unzipped before it can be uploaded to the directory I mentioned
above.

Great! Thanks for clarifying that for me. I assumed that was how to do it but just wanted to double check. As far as all her current pages, catagories, and blog posts, they should just show up right

Yes, assuming you coded the theme correctly.

All the pages, posts, categories, etc are stored in the database so everything will still be there. Lance is right in that you need to have coded the theme correctly. It is possible to create a code without showing any of the posts if you didn't add the code to show the posts for example.

There's one more step to show your theme after you upload the files. You need to select that theme for use from the admin side. If for any reason after you select your theme it's not looking right just select the theme that had been in use until you figure out what went wrong.
