Word press theme annoyance !

Hi guys

I have finally made the move to wordpress, ive been trying to find a good theme, i have found a few installed them, then your confronted with half a dozen links in the footer of ur blog !

Whats that all about, i dont mind givin one link out but i aint giving half a dozen out !

It all depends on the author / designer of the theme, some require their links at the bottom, and some don't. I'd recommend just finding one that doesn't require you to keep many links.

Most of the ones you see in forums will have lots and lots of links at the bottom. That's why they're free. But if you go to the themes on WP.org you'll see a lot more of them with less of that.

Many people base64 encode all of their footers after they make it so the average user can not take the links out. Of course, it's also ruse to do it even if it's not encoded.

That doens't make sense, but hten it kind of does. If it's encoded and then decoded at the last possible minute, the search engines won't see the links, rigth? But on the other hand users will, and might click on them? Plus it makes it that much harder to remove them.

You should always respect the work of someone who created the theme for you to use for free. If you do not like many links in footer chose another theme, at least there are hundreds of them.

Um, spelling? lol

Yeah, I guess it does run up the server's resources, because it needs to decode every time a page is loaded. But then again, it is pretty smart, because almost no one will want to take the time to decode base64 code.

Theres a difference between getting credit for the theme and takin the micky, one theme i downloaded had 5 links on it, 3 of those were to directories, your right just choose another theme, i was just expressing my annoyance !
