How to Create a Successful Blog in Days

I have owned blogs in the past, but my problem was that I never actually put in the effort to see them through into success. I recently started an internet marketing blog, http://www.fourthfloormarketing.com, and it was here that I realized how to actually grow a successful blog right from the start.

The steps are really quite simple, yet vary by niche. Write good content, find an initial semi-targeted traffic source, and hope some of it sticks and move on from there.

For me, this involved writing long posts and then promoting them via social networks such mybloglog and I have seen a large number of people now subscribe to my updates via email and from here many of my RSS subscribers submit my stories to various social bookmarking sites which then only increases my traffic more. As a result, I now have a relatively stable traffic source and I am only 10 days into my blog.

just checked out your blog; has some real useful information. It's nice to be able to find an actually helpful blog among a sea of sites that are trying to sell the information you provide

got any other more expample or tips aside from bloglog for the "semi-targeted traffic source". Wait, how is that a semi-targeted traffic source? ain't that like a traffic exchange only or something?

I would like to create my own blog sometime soon, but you know, the kind of blog I want to make may or may not have a particular traffic source. I mean, I'm not sure really if it will "catch on" or not. Who knows, maybe no one will be interested in what I have to write, but I guess that's why you at least try, to see what happens.

I took a look at your blog and the "15 Ways to Decrease Your Visitor Base" was pretty funny.

I think it's great that you are only 19 years of age. That really inspires me. Keep up the great work.

If you have a high pagerank site, then it becomes easier to start new ones. You could kick start everything you do in a few days.
But getting that first high pagerank site is a bit harder.

I fully agree, I plan to make this blog my launching point for new sites in the future. When I first started I was expanding into far too many niches and websites but now I am trying to centralize my efforts and wait until the opportunity presents itself to re-expand.

One sidenote to my original post, I recently wrote an ebook on this topic which you all might find useful as well as launching my first newsletter (I would highly suggest all bloggers make a newsletter to go along with their blog).

I ran across Fourth Floor Marketing via another channel. He's really got his stuff together, from third-party sources I can see his traffic growing at a strong clip. His advice on starting in small increments will work for anyone.

Some business-to-business sites may not have the audience for high traffic, but you can attract a large concentration of customers. Remember traffic does not equal customers. That's why targeting is critical.

Is it easier to start new high pagerank sites because after the 1st one you are familiar with what makes a high pagerank site? Or is there something else to it?

Guru, I was debating email marketing before, and I eventually figured out that good info sites with subscription capabilities are a good source of traffic and money

if you look at sitepro news you'll see a possible model you could use instead of blogging - regular articles, combined with syndicated articles leading to fat subscription based traffic (all free obviously) - and the best part is you can just stick your blog as a big link on that site too - so just supplement what you've already done with something nice and fat.

I'm supplementing my own stuff, eventually, with a huge affiliate network I'm going to build entirely myself.
