After receiving lots of negative feedback across several forums on my blog, I decided to redo it. I just made it a little bit cleaner, and made a new banner with my newbie photoshop skills. So tell me what you think, you can find it at: http://therustybarrel.com/david/blog

David,

Not sure why you are getting bad reviews on your blog -- I think it's pretty clean and neat. The new banner is quite good for someone who has been "playing with Photoshop" for only two days. I like the voting poll on the right (thought not the current results

) and the general layout of the site -- very clean.

The one thing I think is amiss is that when you click the "Home" link you're whisked away to a page that looks totally different and has a completely divergent look and feel. Pick a design and go with it across all your pages.

David am sure i looked at your blog only this morning linked from another site being reviewed somewhere - it was blue in the background. I liked it then & like it now. its a nice layout - one which i am favouring at the moment & my latest customer loves in his site - yes i like it !!! Whats the font ? i was looking in the code to see if i could find a ref but its probably in the style sheet - & i love the round buttons in your list of past blogs !!

no i am not going to give it an out of 10 because i think thats lame just suffice to say it gets my vote !!

I don't personally like the background colour, and the titles/headers aren't as clear at they could be. Also i think the fields should be more defined (too much white space can be disorientating to a first time visitor). Also (in a KHTML based browser anyway) the banner is not touching the right edge. Other than that it's pretty good.

I like the site, load fast. But the colours don't match altogether, specially the back ground and the header. Just an opinion don't mind me.

I like the main colors except the background. You could choose another background for the site because I don't think the main colors and the background match.

The name of the site (logo) on the header can not be seen much and I think it should be improved and attract site visitors.

Also there is one thing else that the fonts. I don't understand why most of the "bloggers" use that font for the site. IMO even Verdana/Tahoma would look much better.

Yay, some positive feedback. About the 'Home Page' link sending you to another place, that's just a mistake of mine that I haven't fixed completely. The font that I use "Trebuchet MS", I don't know why a lot of people are using it lately; looks neat I guess.

I could use a bit of advice now though, does anyone have a suggestion for the background color? Should I just use a light shade of blue or what?

I think blue will match the current color.

I think a soft light blue work work well. (subtle texture is good too)

I really like the website.
It's clean and easy to read. Even though its not important new, you seem to want to keep reading it as you scroll. Good Vision!

the blog looks pretty good, i dont liek the backgroudn image or the heading image.. actually the abckgroudn image isnt that bad.. it somehow fits in.. but i dunno how.. the header image however doesnt.
