Very cheesy header. The colors arent really that pleasing either. It would look better with a seamless background than the solid blue.

The colours clash. You should use harmonious colours. Blue and Yellow are old match colours. Try using metallic colours:
M.Green + M.Grey(silver)
M.Blue + M.Grey, M.Green
etc
Also type into google:

to get ideas.

The design of the header is nice, imo.
Only the choice of colors is a bit off. So i'd suggest you change the header colors to some better matching colors like mentioned above.
And for th background color, i would take a lighter color, not the dark blue you have now.

Can't say I particularly like the colour scheme, but this is a matter of preference. I prefer more pastel and less bright colours.

I agree with the other posters in that your banner just doesn't work. However, it looks like you've put a lot of time into the layout and content of your blog. Good job -- I've never participated in the blog community, but you all seem to be a dedicated crowd. Good luck.

As for your banner, I would suggest not so many colors. Go with one color with text or perhaps fade in a photograph that means something to you and your site with half of it masked and put your text there. But beware, graphic design is addicting and you can wake up 20 years later and realize you've been working the whole time

Well just to show that everyone has a different perspective I can tell you that I love the colours ! & nice to see that you put your girlfriend before web design & other hobbies in the list !

Although i imagine it would have been more than it was worth not to !! knowing us girls that is !

Nice site for a personal site I liked it !
