i have a threaded posting using MS FrontPage. for the POST, i use this javascript (in the <head> tag:
<SCRIPT language=JavaScript >
function SecureIt(){
if (document.referrer.indexOf("post_logon_prod.asp") == -1) {
// Not coming from correct page... redirect to logon display.
self.location = "post_logon_prod.asp"}

}

</SCRIPT>

then i add "onload="SecureIt()" insid the <BODY> tag.

when i test it (by clicking on the "POST" button, it redirect me to the Post_logo_prod.asp. However, i check the thread posting a couple hours later; i still got some junk posting. Does the script above only prevent human poster; not auto poster (machine generated)?

any help is appreciated.

Yep.

It's javascript and bots don't "do" javascript. So your "security" won't even be triggered.

Security or anti-spam measure HAVE to be done server side.

What Hirst said. Any Javascript/other client side measures can just as easily be read by bots as they can by people and eventually can be countered without much effort.

thank you. I still have much to learn.

i am still google-ing. i am looking at Message board, Forum, Blog & Bullentin. i found some hosting that offer the free service. which one is the best method?

I have been playing around with Google's Blog and Bravenet. I like Google's Blog; however, there's a navbar at the top that have a "NEXT" button for a random blog within Google's blog. Other than that, it isn't so bad since i can approve the post before let it publish.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish, Barbara? You seem to be mixing up some concepts here.

what we have now is using Microsoft FrontPage Discussion Web Site Wizard. it is a public posting and so we have a lot of junk posting.

I am looking for something that offers the same functionality as FrontPage discussion wizard, but allow me to look at the post before it is posted to the website.

here's one of the posting are: http://www.legsource.com/newsctr_toc.htm

thanks
