The Basics of MySpace Marketing

So what exactly is MySpace
marketing?

Simply put, it's when you use the popular
social-networking website MySpace.com to push and promote a product/service that
you're offering. You can either make accounts to send messages and post
bulletins to your own friends or you can pay someone that already has a good
amount of friends to do that for you. In this article, I'm going to teach you
how to populate your own account with friends and boost your website's traffic
and revenue quickly and easily.

Note: the use of the word "friend(s)" throughout the
article is referring to your MySpace friends and not your real-life friends (if
you have any).

What Do I Need To Get
Started?

Profile from MySpace.com of
course!

Bot to automate adding friends, commenting, messaging,
and posting bulletins (not required but helps)

Internet connection, doh!

So, Let's
Begin

You would need to register an account at MySpace first.
Once you get past the registration part, you should fill out all the profile
details so that you don't look like a spammer. To spice up your profile a bit,
go to a resource website, grab some customization codes and apply it to your
profile so that you no longer have that ugly default
design.

Getting
Friends

You can either do this manually by going to individual
profiles and clicking the "add to friend" button or you can: a) use a bot, b)
participate in a "whore" train.

How Does The Bot
Work?

You can look on Google and find a few bots that probably
all function the same way. The one that I use can pull a list of users based on
what I input (gender, race, location, etc.) or I can choose to insert someone's
friend ID and grab all their friends. It also sends messages and post comments
so that's pretty nifty and saves me a lot of time.

What's A Whore
Train?

It's a website where you can submit your profile and
it's basically a "you add me, I add you" type of thing. There's hundreds and
hundreds of whore trains across the net so you can easily build up a friend
network in the thousands within a week if you're
active.

Exactly How Many Friends Do I
Need?

The more the better. I have an account with just a
little over 1,000 friends that bring in a few hundred unique hits per day. Not
bad, eh? But you can do 10x better with a 10,000 friends account, of
course.

Targeting
Users

The big websites that I run are mainly based around
"Asian-Americans" so I try to avoid adding other kinds of people. For instance,
I've accidentally added a few hundred white people before (they took me off
after awhile) and my inbox was bombed with "who are you?" and "what is this?"
questions. A good way to target users using the bot is by finding one profile
that you think fits your market and pull all their friends. Do this multiple
times and you'll have an account with friends that will probably like your
stuff.

I have another account that I use to target

Louisiana

residents
for smaller websites of mine. Like I said before with the bot, it can pull users
from a location using a zip code number so that's a good way to only have
friends from a certain place.

Ok, I Have Friends. Now
What?

If you don't have a bot to automatically send out your
messages for you, you can post up bulletins. What a lot of MySpace marketers do
is post a bulletin in the morning, one during the day, and one late at night.
That way, it's almost guaranteed that almost everybody sees it. Try not to post
too many bulletins because you'll probably be labeled as a spammer and will lose
all your friends' support.

Commenting For
Traffic

A comment posted on your friend's page like "thanks for
the add, just stopping by to show some love. P.S. Check out my website [insert
URL here]" will be deemed as okay by most of them. This technique is commonly
done by music artists and groups with a high success
rate.

Messaging For
Traffic

Messages are a bit more personal than comments and
bulletins. That means that you have to be creative with your message and not
straight out say "COME VISIT MY WEBSITE", ya know? A simple way is to just greet
your friends and ask about their day. At the end of that message, separate it
with a line and whatever comes after that line, put your advertising message
there (just like a custom signature on a forum).

Messages, Bulletins, Comments, I'm
confused?

Don't be. Messages are like emails except it's sent from
MySpace user to MySpace user. Bulletins are quick messages that you can post up
to have all your friends see it. Comments are messages left on a friend's
profile page.

Ridiculously Spamming
Friends

I don't do this at all because I don't like it when it's
done to me. I actually use my MySpace accounts to interact with my friends,
participate in their chain letters, and do all the things that an average
MySpace user would do. I found that the more personal you are with your friends,
the more likely they're to visit your website and support
you.

That's All
Folks!
