When it comes to search engine optimization, if you aren’t careful, you can easily over do it. This applies to nearly anyone trying to make it and create some sort of presence on the internet today from, individuals, small businesses and large companies alike. They want to make quick rise to the top in their website rankings and they’ve probably read somewhere about wring information to make them successful.

What typically happens is they discover a few keywords they think might be ideal for their business venture and end up stuffing their pages full or these terms only to end up falling flat on the faces. Instead of trying to write to the visitors who happen across their site, they write in a manner they think is attractive to search engines and end up alienating both. They then have little or no rankings and little to no business.

This is the distinctive downfall of most small online businesses. Content suffers, and while their seo worked for a short time, Google knows that they were just trying to get high rankings without providing any real content. When content takes a back seat to seo keyword over optimization, the site will more than likely be avoided by those who are looking for specific information or products that the site failed to deliver.

Everyone businessperson wants pages on their site to rank number one for their top keywords, but there can only be one number one. The top web sites websites find a correct balance of content and optimization by giving their readers exactly the information they are looking for and by looking natural by the search engines. Let’s take a look at a piece of content that has over done it in the keyword department as an example.

“Our website has many articles and research on our keyword tools to optimize advertising your website. Through the use of these keywords tools that are optimal for marketing, you will be able to place highly in the search engines. Our keyword tools will help you find just the right keywords for your web site.

Optimal keyword tools can be found on various websites on the Internet. But our keyword tools are some of the best available. If you are looking for keyword tools to help place your site highly on the net, then check out our keyword tools.”

The content is about keyword tools, but how many times was the phrase “keyword tools” used in the two paragraphs? Believe or not, there are worse than this obvious attempt to SEO the article about keywords. Now let’s take a look at an optimum use of the SEO for the same two paragraphs of content. This time observe how little the SEO keyword is used to see the difference.

“Our website has many articles and research on working with good keyword tools to help you optimize your website. Our tools will show you the specific words that are optimal for marketing your site in the niche you choose. We will show you how to find the right words to attract visitors to your site and to keep them there.

Many tools are available on the internet today to help you optimize your site, but ours have gone through rigorous testing to provide you with the best service possible. And you can even try our keyword tools for free before you buy a monthly subscription. That way you can see if they are right for you.”

The content message is the same except in the first example the specific phrase was used 7 times, in the second example, the phrase was only used 2 times. No only will the search engines frown upon this kind of writing because it is an obvious attempt to game them, but visitors will tire of this writing as well.

It most definitely pays not to over do your attempts at seo if your goal is to be number one and increase your sales with keyword optimization. The best thing do is to write your content as though Google didn’t even exist because much of the time that’s exactly the kind of content that will please the search engines and of course the most important element of your online business, your customers.
