Podcasting has been becoming increasingly popular throughout the past few years. It's not hard to figure out why -- there are a lot of benefits that both a podcaster and it's listener enjoy.

Podcasts can be used with a variety of digital formats. You can use them on any MP3 player, a laptop, a desktop computer, or portable audio device. They can be used to deliver a variety of different messages, from educational to humorous, to anything in between. Some people will use these for business, and some even just use them for fun.

Whatever the use is, the benefits are enormous.

See, podcasting is the process of taking any audio -- this can be a song, an interview, song, etc. -- and publishing it via RSS feed to a website. Once podcasts are posted, users can immediately download them and put them into whatever audio program they so choose.

Since podcasts can be downloaded directly to somebody's computer, they can be listened to iwhenever a person decides. There's no time limit once they're downloaded. That means that they can be listened to in the car, at the gym, or on a long walk. This is a strong feature that's someone who publishes via text cannot advertise.

In order to create a podcast, all you need is a microphone and audio recording software. Microphones can be purchased for as little as five dollars, to as much as hundreds of dollars. It depends on your needs. As far as recording software, you can use many different kinds -- and they even have free options available. One such option is Audacity.

Once you have a podcast recorded, all you need to do is upload it. There are plenty of services in which you can host your podcasts, and many of them are free. Your podcasts can also be published with the help of a feed burner.

Vodcasts, on the other hand, stand for a video on demand. These are similar to podcasts, except that they deliver videos. The content is more likely to be played on via a laptop or a desktop computer instead of an MP3 player or portable media device. This is due to their sheer size.

When you communicate via a vodcast, you have the ability to deliver a big message. Not only does it seem a bit more attractive than a podcasts, they are able to really speak in a conversational tone with your users. This helps relationship marketing, and really allows your users to get to know you.

The procedure of creating RSS feeds for these videos on demand is similar to how one publishes a podcast. The only difference is that when you're creating videos, you need to use video editing tools instead of audio editing tools.

Both of these methods -- podcasting and videos on demand -- create amazing opportunities for Internet marketers to communicate with customers and increase relationships. Since their advent, hundreds and hundreds of marketers have benefited from them.
