Making Money by Giving Away Free Stuff

The internet is full of ‘free’ offers. I’m sure you’ve already come across several in your email that you’ve directly sent to the ‘spam’ mailbox. And while some ‘free’ offers are in reality certainly NOT free, there are those that actually are.

Manufacturers know that if they add free incentives to potential or even existing customers, they have a higher chance of beating their competition’s sales.

The trick is to offer something free, and then once the customer is on the store page, they might decide to purchase a few things more, thus sending an extra percentage to you – the affiliate.

Here are some tips and examples of ‘free’ offers that you can advertise in order to push your affiliate sales even higher:

1. Free Shipping

Free shipping is pretty common now days, but is almost always limited to a certain purchase amount to qualify. The lower the required purchase amount, the better the deal. As an affiliate you should pay attention to the fine print, because you know your traffic will be too. By giving them the best deal, you are not only saving your traffic money, but also encouraging them to visit your site again for other deals you offer or announce.

2. Free Products / Free Samples

A product can be anything, from a free ebook, to a bottle of lotion. Usually if the free product is a physical item there is a shipping amount required, although not always. Sometimes these are considered ‘free samples’ and the manufacturer will happily pay the postage. Later they use the address or contact information to do a ‘follow up’ and offer the buyer additional products.

3. Free Gift Certificate / Credit

I’ve seen this offered with many sites. For a first time buyer they will offer $5 - $10 off their first order. In some cases this completely takes care of the shipping amount, which is a good incentive for the buyer as it’s almost like buying the items out of the store down the street.

4. Sales / Discounts

Sales and (for example) clearance discounts are an amazing way to bring in traffic. Let your traffic know that certain stores have certain sales at different times. Your traffic will follow the links and while they save money on their favorite items, you make money on the commissions. Making everyone happy.

5. Terminology

Using ‘free’ terminology you can pretty much give away anything extra with any product you advertise. Whether it’s a booklet of exercises to use with their new thigh-master work out device, or adding a pair of extra batteries for their mp3 player. You can always make your deal look better by giving them a better deal than they would find elsewhere. This may sound a bit underhanded, but in reality it’s all about the words you use. For example, for an item that has ‘batteries included’ change the wording and say ‘batteries come free’. By highlighting the extra inclusive offer you’re making your product look special.

By giving your traffic the best offers, and free stuff, they’ll keep coming back for more.

I agree that people love something for nothing. My nana used to say a REAL bargain is owt for nowt and tuppence change. As a builder we supply mainly services so are not in the retail business but we do offer 10% off for Carers, Disabled and Pensioners and from time to time we offer free or reduced items, eg in summer we offer a free hanging basket worth £20 with every garden makeover. We make full use of any vouchers offered on Googlemaps or the free online directories because we have found that these sometimes come up on Google when you search for freebies. So these free offers can get you on Page 1 of Google. We also have a Free Disability Advice page which regularly appears on page 1 of Google. We have added a Free Advice on Planning and Building Regulations page to our website to draw in traffic and hope they will choose our firm for the work. We are now working on a free Home Improvements Advice page with tips on interior design and staging your home for sale or let. We have done this to boost our rankings for the keywords Home Improvements in Google. We also have a new Gardening Advice page in development with subpages with advice on organic gardening, disabled gardening aids etc.
with lots of beautiful pictures. We also have a David-Troy-Gardening-Catalogue image gallery with beautiful images of pergola's, arbours, etc. and are preparing to launch this on Google Business Centre which lets you upload your entire catalogue.

The word "FREE" in itself is a great online marketing tool. With Search Engine Optimization, I have tested various content with the word FREE with great results.

Well, I think it's time to be a little careful since FTC is coming for those who do not explain their definition of free on their marketing campaign.

hi,

make a money from online its easy,et me use an example to make this clearer. Let’s say, you sign up with a CPA network and decide to promote a merchant that pays for a single field - email address. Let’s break this scenario into 3 perspectives - the merchant’s, the affiliate’s and the visitors’ referred by the affiliate.

I want to know more about giving away free stuffs. Definitely, its another way of gaining traffic but in terms of money, I am not so sure. But the tips can be useful.
