Building Links from Blogs

By Lpspider

Released On 06-03-2009

Blogging is becoming more and more popular as a method of sharing thoughts online and networking with likeminded people. There are thousands and possibly millions of blogs live on the internet today. More blogs are spawning because people think their opinions are important and want others to hear what they personally have to say. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it is a result of people’s growing ego and opinion that their opinion matters.

As a webmaster seeking to promote your own websites, you can use blogs to help. This is true for some specific niches or specific-topic sites you run. If you can find a blog that has content related to your website, you can use it to help promote your site and interact with the author of the blog at the same time.

You can use it to build links or generate traffic to your site through various methods. This is a lot cheaper than buying ads in newspaper, on TV stations, radio broadcasts, or other methods. Blog advertising and other Web 2.0 methods are much more cheaper, and sometimes free methods of promotion.

If you have a website, or better yet, a product you’re selling, you could try to get a blogger in the same industry to review it. Simply send them an email asking for a review. Sometimes bloggers will do this for free if it’s related to their niche. Some require payment.

You may want to offer a free trial of the product for them to review it. It’s better to send them a free product to get a review on their blog than to try to buy a review from the blogger. When seeking a review, make sure they know you’re after an honest review. Make sure you know you’re after an honest review. The blogger will most likely include a link back to your website; if they don’t, feel free to ask them too.

If you get reviewed by an industry-leading blog, it will likely create more blog posts on related sites, often by people republishing or rewriting the content of the larger blog, on which your review was featured. This will help generate more traffic and interest in your product or site, as well as boost backlinks and search engine rankings. When trying to find a blog related to your niche, simply search, in Google, for your keyword followed by the word “blog.” Even better than seeking reviews is getting good reviews without looking for them. If you have an exceptional site or good product, chances are you’ll get reviews anyway.

Aside from reviews, you can also post comments on blogs. Posting comments on most blogs does not get you much search engine credit because most blogs have installed no follow tags to links to avoid blog spam. Even so, posting contributing comments on a blog, with your link, can still help bring in some click through traffic.

In the end, it’s best if your site or product you’re selling is quality enough to get reviews. That being said, it can still be productive to approach blog owners asking for reviews, as well as to leave blog comments.

Yes it's true! I've read some articles before about using blogs to gain rankings. Since blogs are flexible, you can target one niche to as many as you like yet all niche are related to your main site. That way you can get a wider audience, more traffic and more sales

I am totally agree with the information served. Its fully true that by commenting on the blogs post, you may grab a special attention by the Search Engines and these are as well most useful in gathering back links as well.

To be honest, I'm kind of skeptic of the review part. Theoretically, it could be a wonderful opportunity (free ad, plus a link - that is really something), but I can't see it as viable in practice. This is obvious promotion, and if I were a blogger, I wouldn't seriously consider taking the time to write and post an article to promote someone else's product/site. There's also the question of competition - if the person is capable to express an informed opinion on my product, they are bound to be in the same niche - competition.

Please correct me if my perspective is completely warped.

One example of how review works really well is the Eclipse Foundation.

Every year, when the next release of the software comes out, they get people to review it on their blogs. Every reviewer get a free polo shirt. Some reviews are positive. Many are mixed, they tell the good and the bad.

You can see many of last year's reviews by Googling (woohoo, I'm on the 1st page)
http://google.com/search?q=ganymede+review

Reviews won't work for everything. You just have to decide if it's right for your particular situation.
