hi
Updated is a big scam, they do not pay their affiliates
they owe me 4 months of affiliate money which summs up to $8052

so fellow webmasters, if you are thinking to join their scam
you are warned. It's not me alone that doesn't get paid.
there are many more webmasters.

This I got yesterday, apperently they don't like that i post in forums
the fact that i don't get paid from them, I did nothing wrong.
in fact, they double checked my traffic and said it was OK (2nd Mail)
then I got an e-mail after a telephone conversation with the owner of Updated.com (3rd mail), I put some screenshots in that prove otherwise as they say.

so basically, YES i'm pretty sure they won't pay
( see sample screenshot of my members area for the month of august
http://www.100000freecliparts.com/updated_aug.gif )

received 4th October:
Klaas,

We are in the process of taking you to court both here in the US and in the Netherlands. Our terms and conditions are clear your account is closed you choose to not follow them and you for what you are doing you will have to pay depending on how many people are reading it per day. Every reader counts for us and we will get paid from you.

Have a nice weekend!

Updated!

received 9th September:
Klaas,

Your account has been reactivated and your payments will be sent!

We reviewed your account and its fine although the reason your account was on hold was because we detected clicks from same IP network and that is not allowed as you know.

Can you let me know what months you were not paid because It shows that the August check was indeed mailed to you.

I guess there was a miscommunication due to your email being blocked and maybe thats why this took place. I guess it could also be a good reason for you to write and change your posts.

Let me know on your payments and also after you change the posts so I can also review them. Good to have you back!

Have a nice day and let me know if you ever need something!

Thank you,
Maria
Updated!

received 30th September:
I added a few notes regarding screenshots I made
Klaas,

You had a conversation regarding the clicks and from what was told to you the keyword "clipart" was not an approved keyword (see screenshot http://www.100000freecliparts.com/updated-bids.gif ) or based on our Affiliate terms and conditions. As you also know no one in the industry of PPC has any advertisers interested in paying for that traffic. You have also accused our company wrongfully making false representations on boards acting as if you are more than one person.

Inspite of all that we have tried to work with you possibly by asking you to deliver traffic on other keywords NOT "clipart" where we do have advertisers and are willing to accept you to our program but you were not willing to do so either that gives us no option but to close your account effective today and will pay you for everything that we owe you where we have generated revenue and will send you a check in the mail this week.

I am sorry but in our terms and conditions we clearly state (and in your
stats) what qualified clicks and suggest you read those before you deliver traffic. Before we send you a check you must remove all wrongfull posts you have added or we will withhold your check. Our stats indicate what we owe you but we review all revenues every month and if you have abused our program by sending us 45% of your clicks on non advertiser links while we warned you to correct it but you choose not to.
(see screenshot stating that there are in fact 3 advertisers http://www.100000freecliparts.com/clipart-search.gif )

I am sorry you were not able to understand this and work along with us but it is fairly simple we have a share revenue agreement and we dont pay for clicks we do not earn money from. We reviewed your clicks and 45% of those were for "clipart" and generated no revenues.

If you have an idea to help resolve this or offer a long term business relationship then feel free to let me know.

Thank you,

Maria

Sorry to here about your bad experience with Updated.com.

To be honest I signed up with their affiliate program a few months back, but did not even bother earning from it! Don't ask me why because I can't remember, but I think it was because I didn't like the layout of their affiliate structure.

I must admit, I have seen a lot of sites that are using Updated.com for their search results.

What I tend to do if someone doesn't pay up, is give them about a month, and if they still does not pay, then will take them of my site until I receive payment. Once payments are receive from them, I happily add them back to my site.

When in the affiliate marketing business, it's always best to try and earn money from over 20 + different affiliate programs as putting all your eggs in one basket is to risky.

I remember back a few years ago when i was starting out in PPC getting cheated by a company (Standard Internet - SearchTraffic) and it just feels awful. Fortunately for them the amount wasn't that high i wouldn't hestitate dragging them to court otherwise.

Yeah LookPortal when starting out in busines on the Internet, it is hard another just getting your site known than having to try and get paid as well.

Not getting paid when you have just started in the Internet industry is a killer!

hehehe
yeah, I've got searchpixie, today's Alexa rank in 7000 :-)
and 20 other sites on 4 dedicated servers, will drive some more
traffic to updatedsucks.

when I was originally inquiring about a lawyer to sue this guy one of the lawyers said it would be a good idea if he is doing this to a lot of people to start a class action law-suit..bring him to court with a list of names...,

alexa ranking 7000! Good work, I wish my ranking was around that way.

Well it's nice to see that you've got a good ranking, all you need to do now is try and get paid from your partners.

Updated, never was my main affiliate program
, this is searchpixie.com which is mine, so I'm sure I get paid :-))
I ran updated ads, on one of my other sites, a clipart site
which does like 10k uniques/day, I ran it on-the-side
updated.com promised a 10cent a click though bravenet ads

well 10cent a click isn't bad, so i tried it.
the firts couple months they paid, untill I decided that more traffic from the clipart site goes their way.

I've had pretty good experience with flexicose. Just get people to buy their bottles through your site and they pay you $6.50 per bottle, even reorders. I got a check for $117 last month. Might be something to look into. http://www.flexicose.com/enroll is the url.

John
Look at this realistic example:

if every visitor on my site would buy just 1 bottle
(its on the low side, most will buy more off course)
then I would earn $6.5 * 60.000 = $390.000/day
thats $11.7 million a month, a 31 day month will be over $12 mil

why am I working my a** off running this PPC engine
I'm changing business
www.searchpixiebottles.com coming soon LOL

d*** bottles.com is already taken

LOL

Maybe he is intrigued by your "realistic example" for selling them bottles. I was just reading an article on MediaPost (or thier bizarro equivilant) about the next big thing on the net which is selling "bottles". This is a 6,000,000,000.00 industry (depending how many places to left you want to move the decimal point).

Sorry but my experience with Updated! has been very good and although I dont know what happened between the guy thats posting here all I can say is that they have been very good to me and pay me well!

I cant see why they wouldnt pay... if they told you that you made "$8,000" as you claim how much money have they made from that if its a revenue share and why on earth would they be giving up an $16,000 account?

I dont buy your story my friend and it seems you probably did something that is not right...

Maybe you sent traffic inappropriately?

Did you read the terms and conditions?

You need to be sure you follow their guidelines and keep the banners and links as they provide them to you. Did you alter the code they provided you?

Anyway I am happy working with them and I am getting paid!

[SNIPPED]

You can list your URL in their results for keywords you want and they will also send you free traffic!

Hi there,

You are right. This guy that goes by the name "SearchPixie" was sending traffic inappropriately against our terms and conditions. He knew that from the beginning and we even offered to pay him if he would change the links he added and put the ones we approved but he didn't want to do that...

That happens once in a while we get guys like "SearchPixie" thinking he could use his own scripts and the method of extortion by building a website which he called "updatedsucks.com"... check with internic to see that he registered that website.

You are right... why would we not want to make money from "searchpixie" every month? If he brought in $16,000 and he was owed $8,000 why would we want to give up $90,000 a year account by not paying him...

Good observation Traffic Manager. Sometimes we get these "smart" people thinking they can "hack" around our affiliate program and get paid...

Have a nice day!
