I am new to this whole affiliate marketing thing and was wondering from a technical standpoint how it works.
Specifically, with a CPA, e.g., purchase of goods on a website, how do these sites work? Do they all use URL tracking, whereby the destination website keeps track of the referrals through the code in the URL and then pay the referrer website when there is a purchase?
How does this relate to the cookies many of the affiliate marketing programs use?
