I am new to web and I want to promote my business on the net. I want an online store targeting e-customers as this is the place where most of the crowds land. Just putting up a website is not going to be enough to get traffic to your website. You need to get links to your website so it gets indexed by the major search engines and then if your website is optimized well enough, you will start to see an increase over time of organic search traffic from related keywords to your website content.

As far as finding someone to make you a website I would suggest going to elance.com or rentacoder.com and place an offer for someone to bid on for website design and developement. You can also maybe find someone who has knowledege of Internet marketing who can give your new site a traffic boost by getting some backlinks to your newly designed site.

Once your site is up you want to continue the momentum by exchanging links with other sites related to yours and set up some social network pages like MySpace and Facebook to get more visitors and traffic. You can also start a blog and write about your business and site. Blogs are a great way to get backlinks to your website and more traffic from the search engines.

I am curious how this would help. I do have a myspace account but how do I get people to go there in the first place before I start advertising my site on there.
