hey guys and gals...im new to the site and new to affiliate marketing.

I have been skimming through posts and trying to learn but in all honesty I need someone to simply tell me what affiliate marketing is all about and how to get started and the steps that you veterans took when you were in my position?

Make a blog? website? signing up for affiliates? Pay per sale/click?

Any and all info would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

I don't want to come across as rude or dissapointing but, in all honesty, there is no sure fire way to get started successfully. Some people jump right in by purchasing a domain and signing up for an affiliate program while learning along the way. Others may simply read until they are comfortable enough with what they need to do.

What are your goals? Are you planning on having a good content site that you will advertise on? Will you simply want to go the landing page way? How will you market the ads? Will you use MSN Adcenter, Yahoo, or Google?

Once you figure out what you want to do, besides make money, take steps to go that direction. I would recommend continued reading in this forum as well as taking the Google Adwords courses. They are found here:

well....i guess my first question should be what is the best way in making your own website? Or is the way of blogging better?

These are nice tips, but as quaner says there is no jet start for any thing you have to start from the bottom and be patient and off course work really hard. Try as many things as possible.

My two cents
1) Choose a product or service you feel you can promote, that enough other people will be interested in, and that people need or want bad enough to buy it or sign up for it.
2) Figure out the specific people who will be interested in what you chose
3) Build a site or page that will appeal to those people. Keep the page simple and easy to navigate. And above all your visitors should be able to find what they are looking for right away without using a magnifying glass.
4) Find places to advertise where those people hang out
5) Watch your statistics (clicks, visitors, signups, sales, etc)
6) Make adjustments to your page, offer, advertisements based on your statistics
7) TEST, TEST, TEST!!!

All of the above plus you better start with programs that show you step by step what to do. Some programs are harder and you need a lot of technical knowledge to start, but some programs are specially designed for both newbies and pros.
